Sola in Sicilia

They say the easiest job in the world is to report the weather in England. As it's now supposed to be summer the predictions would be of summer showers or predictions of a sunny day with scattered showers. Not too difficult is it? Here in London we are estatic for any amount of sunshine that is bestowed upon us here and so let down and fed up with the bad weather we are constantly seeking sunnier climates.

I needed to get away for a few days on a beach but as I had a big trip to Thailand planned later on in December, I needed to find a place in Europe, that after the Summer crowds had dispersed would still be warm. I decided on the capital of Sicily and one of the closest places to Africa as you could get whilst still in Europe. Palermo!

I am always thrilled with the accommodation I find in Italy and this time in Palermo, it was no different. I checked myself into my 'l'albergo' which was situatated within a stone's throw from the main part of Palermo in a quiet corner of the town.

My room overlooked onto a sort of Church that no doubt was the source of the bells that rang a beautiful sound of every hour of the day and when I explored the hotel, I found that each room was unique but as equally romantic and elegant as the previous ones.

After unpacking my bag, I decided that I was hungry and ventured out to try some of the local Sicilian cusine - well, next door to the hotel.

After lunch, it was time to really venture off to explore, to get some inspiration from Palermo.
